Tenth entry for the #8sunday Weekend Writing Warriors blog hop –
Long years of training permitted me to remain relaxed, focused solely on the King and his Council as Michael breathed down my neck. “And just who do you propose we send, Baran?”
The pounding music made my head ache and the colored contacts I was wearing to hide my Therian gold eyes were still uncomfortable even after four months of using them. It was an inconvenience to resort to such measures to hide among Humans and a few Therians were bold enough to forgo the mandated contacts as they mingled with the other patrons of the Blue Star. Golden eyes were always noticed, but the Elves had long ago aided in explaining them away as an aftereffect of their marriages to non-Elves. Still, it was unwise to draw such attention even in a nightclub.
The above is an excerpt from my WIP novella, Tiger’s Paw, the prequel to The Therian Way, my urban fantasy series. This entry is a direct continuation from last week’s, which you can read here.
